Our Trees
Jay’s Tree Farm has a variety of options for your perfect Christmas tree! We offer Canaan Fir, Douglas Fir, Concolor Fir, White Pine, and Scotch Pine trees. Customers are welcome to cut their own tree down or our team is happy to help. We will supply the saws and carrying carts to cut down your tree. Also, we supply twine to tie your tree to your vehicle and our team can assist if needed.
In addition to cutting down a tree, we also have freshly cut trees available! Our team will continuously be refilling our fresh cut rack, so you will have a selection of over 100 trees to choose from. We have a great selection of trees ranging from 6 to 12 feet on this rack.
All customers are treated with full service which includes cutting, shaking, wrapping, and loading the trees. Drilling the bottom of the trees is also available for the tree stands requiring a hole.
Fresh-cut trees are very thirsty. Your tree will drink between two pints and a gallon of water a day, so it’s essential to check the stand every day and add fresh water as needed.
Types of Trees
Canaan Fir
Field Tree and Fresh Cut Options
Canaan Fir is a newer variety that is becoming a very popular choice as a Christmas tree as it is very similar to a Fraser Fir. Canaan fir has a firm branch with soft short needles that tend to last longer than some other tree varieties. This tree is well equipped to hold heavier ornaments.
Douglas Fir
Fresh Cut Only
The soft needles of the Douglas Fir are dark green to blue green in color and are slightly longer than the Canaan Fir. The Douglas Fir needles radiate in all directions from the branch. When crushed, these needles have a sweet, citrus fragrance.
Concolor Fir
Field Tree and Fresh Cut Options
Concolor Fir is another great option for a Christmas tree within the fir tree family. Concolor firs have slightly longer and more narrow needles compared to the Canaan Fir. The needles also have a sweet, citrus fragrance.
White Pine
Field Tree Only
The White Pine has long, soft, flexible needles and is blueish-green in color. White Pines have good to excellent needle retention, but have little aroma. They aren’t recommended for heavy ornaments, but they are slightly less expensive than the Fir varieties.
Scotch Pine
Field Tree Only
The Scotch Pine has historically been the most popular Christmas tree in the U.S. It is known for its firm branches and excellent needle retention. It is well suited for heavy ornaments and they are slightly less expensive than the Fir varieties.

Tree Care Tips
When you bring your tree home, we want to make sure it is healthy and happy! Here are some tips to ensure your tree stays bright and green through the holidays.
- When you bring your Christmas tree home, place it in water as soon as possible. Ensure your tree stand includes a bucket of water, so your tree will maintain freshness and minimize needle loss.
- Use a tree stand that fits your tree and avoid whittling the sides of the trunk down to fit a stand. The outer layers of wood are the most efficient in taking up water and should not be removed.
- As a general rule, tree stands should provide 1 quart of water per inch of stump diameter. You will want to watch the water level in your tree stand, so you can make sure the stump stays submerged by at least one inch.
- Keep displayed trees away from sources of heat (fireplaces, heaters, heat vents, direct sunlight). Lowering the room temperature will slow the drying process, resulting in less water consumption each day.
- Use of lights that produce low heat, such as miniature LED lights, will reduce drying of the tree. Always inspect light sets prior to placing them on the tree. If worn, you should replace them with a new set.
- Always turn off the tree lights when leaving the house or when going to bed.
Recycling Your Real Christmas Tree
Real trees are both renewable and recyclable. They can provide benefits to the environment as they decompose and quickly replenish soil nutrients. There is also a growing trend of recycling Christmas trees where the trees are turned into mulch for gardens and other uses. Find a Christmas tree recycling center near you.
